A group of leaders from the Tipra Motha party and the Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) formally joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday.
The joining programme was held through a press conference at the BJP state office, Kushabhau Bhavan, in Agartala.
The press conference was attended by BJP State General Secretary Bipin Debbarma, Office Secretary Mihir Sarkar, State Media In-charge Sunit Sarkar—who also paid tribute while recalling the late Bishwabandhu Sen—and BJP Sadar Gramin District President Gouranga Bhowmik, among other senior leaders.
Welcoming the new members, State General Secretary Bipin Debbarma said that people from various political parties and different sections of society are joining the BJP every day, inspired by the development-oriented initiatives of the governments led by the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister. He stated that the ongoing development, stability, and good governance under the BJP are the main reasons behind such joinings.
Those who joined the BJP after leaving Motha and IPFT include Bapi Rupini, Manimala Debbarma, Sumiti Debbarma, Prabharani Debbarma, Budhiram Debbarma, and others. These leaders are from the Mandai and Simna areas. In addition, members of 72 families, comprising a total of 246 voters, also joined the BJP on the same day.
The newly inducted leaders and workers were felicitated with flowers during the programme. BJP leaders expressed confidence that these joinings would further strengthen the party’s organizational base in the concerned areas.
