Tripura Police from the Agartala West Police Station have arrested 13 individuals in connection with a series of recent disturbances across the capital city, following multiple complaints of law and order violations over the past few days amidst the Durga Puja.
Officer-in-Charge Rana Chatterjee briefed the media on Sunday, detailing several incidents that led to the arrests. Among them was a violent altercation during the Durga Puja celebrations at City Centre, where a man was allegedly assaulted after confronting a group of individuals accused of harassing his wife.
In another case, a Tripura State Rifles (TSR) personnel was attacked during a separate disturbance, along with several other related incidents reported across the city.
“Based on these complaints, we have successfully apprehended 13 accused persons,” Chatterjee said.
“Four of them are currently in police remand and will be produced before the court once the remand period concludes. The remaining individuals, arrested yesterday, will be presented in court today for further investigation.”
The Officer-in-Charge assured that the police would maintain strict vigilance across the city and take prompt action against any attempts to disrupt public peace.
“Our priority is to ensure the safety of citizens and restore normalcy in all affected areas,” he added.
Police have intensified patrolling and monitoring efforts in sensitive zones as investigations continue.
