Tripura Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Tinku Roy today called upon the new generation to draw inspiration from the ideals and humanist philosophy of rebel poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, whose writings once ignited patriotic fervour among Indians during the freedom struggle.

Speaking as the chief guest at the poet's birth anniversary celebration at Nazrul Kalakshetra, organized by the Department of Information and Cultural Affairs, Roy highlighted the enduring relevance of Nazrul’s thoughts and urged young people to follow his path of courage, secularism, and social justice.

"Poet Nazrul aimed to awaken the youth through his sharp and fearless writings. His vision is still significant in today’s context. We must transmit his ideals to the new generation,” said Roy, noting that Rabindranath Tagore himself had recognised Nazrul’s depth and importance in shaping Indian culture.

In his welcome address, Dr. Pradip Kumar Chakraborty described Nazrul as a “multifaceted genius” whose powerful literary works played a pivotal role in awakening mass consciousness during the independence movement.

The minister also acknowledged the department's recent initiatives to revive and preserve endangered cultures of various ethnic communities—something he claimed was neglected by previous governments. 

He further stressed the need to combat social evils like child marriage and teenage pregnancy through collective efforts and awareness.
