In a concerted move to counter cross-border infiltration, Tripura Police and the Border Security Force (BSF) have heightened surveillance along the Indo-Bangladesh frontier.

As part of this operation, two Bangladeshi nationals and two Indian touts were apprehended late last night from the Inter-State Bus Terminus in Dharmanagar, North Tripura.

Acting on specific intelligence, jawans of the BSF’s 199 Battalion intercepted the Bangladeshi duo—identified as Noor and Alamin—at the ISBT. During preliminary interrogation, the duo reportedly divulged key details that led security forces to two Indian nationals believed to be aiding illegal border crossings.

"Based on inputs from the detained foreigners, we arrested two Indian touts—Swapan Kar and Bidhan Deb—suspected to be part of a larger network facilitating cross-border movement," a Tripura Police officer confirmed.

Security agencies have since intensified raids on suspected touts’ hideouts across bordering areas of Tripura. All four individuals have been produced before the court, and authorities have sought remand of the Indian accused to delve deeper into the smuggling and infiltration nexus.

A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
