Tripura is set to roll out the ‘Vikshit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan’ from May 29 to June 12, as part of a nationwide campaign aimed at boosting agricultural productivity and enhancing farmers' income.

In preparation for the campaign, Tripura Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath held a meeting with Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan via video conferencing, alongside other state agriculture ministers.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Minister Nath said the 15-day campaign will focus on increasing food grain production, reducing input costs, improving food security, and ensuring the availability of high-quality seeds and fertilizers.

“The campaign is designed to raise awareness about central and state government schemes among farmers, and ultimately to double their income,” he said.

Nath also highlighted that India has already recorded impressive growth in agricultural output this year. “To build on this momentum, the ‘Vikshit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan’ will be implemented in all Gram Panchayats across Tripura,” he added.

The state government has planned an extensive outreach initiative involving state and district coordinators, agricultural scientists from ICAR and KVKs, as well as officials from the fisheries and horticulture departments. “Food remains the most critical issue. Through this campaign, Prime Minister Narendra Modi aims to deliver a strong message to strengthen agriculture and support our farmers,” said Nath.
