Tripura is fully prepared to roll out the Vikshit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan across 864 locations starting tomorrow, announced State Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath on Wednesday.

The campaign, aimed at promoting agricultural self-reliance ahead of the Kharif season, will continue till June 12 in coordination with the nationwide initiative.

Speaking at a press conference in Agartala, Minister Nath said Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is likely to visit the state in connection with the campaign, although the exact date of his arrival is yet to be confirmed.

"In every district, three committees have been formed. Each day, meetings will be conducted with 200 farmers in three sessions—from 9 to 11 AM, 12 to 2 PM, and 3 to 5 PM," Nath said.

The committees will comprise officials from the Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Resources Development Department (ARDD), and Fisheries, along with agricultural scientists, representatives of Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), ICAR, Agricultural and Veterinary Colleges, and progressive farmers.

A total of 72 such meetings will be held across the state during the campaign.

To amplify outreach, the government will also mobilize 24 Krishi Raths—vehicles equipped with banners and information materials on various central and state schemes related to agriculture, horticulture, ARDD, and fisheries.

Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha is scheduled to inaugurate the Abhiyan at Bishramganj in Sepahijala district. The launch will be attended by ministers, MLAs, MDCs, and other public representatives.

Highlighting the significance of the initiative, Nath said, “The primary objective is to assure farmers that the government stands firmly with them—offering support through modern technology, training, and financial assistance.”

According to the minister nearly 200 agricultural scientists are expected to engage with them directly during the program, alongside progressive farmers.
