Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Wednesday said that reaching out to people and resolving their problems remains a top priority of the state government, while highlighting significant progress in healthcare, including an 80% reduction in patient referrals outside the state.
Speaking during the 70th edition of the Mukhyamantri Samipeshu programme at the TIFT Conference Hall in Agartala, the Chief Minister said the initiative has become an effective platform for direct interaction between the government and citizens. On the occasion, 28 residents from Kanchanpur subdivision in North Tripura participated virtually, raising issues related to healthcare, livelihoods, fisheries and rain-damaged houses. Dr. Saha assured them that appropriate action would be taken after examining their grievances.
The Chief Minister also virtually inaugurated the 'Yoddha' website developed by the North Tripura District Administration. Describing it as a commendable initiative, he said the portal would enable citizens to confidentially report social issues such as child marriage, drug abuse, domestic violence and child labour. Individuals struggling with drug addiction can also seek counselling and treatment through the platform while maintaining complete confidentiality.
Dr. Saha said the government has expanded the Mukhyamantri Samipeshu programme to district and subdivision levels to ensure greater public participation, especially for those unable to travel to Agartala. He added that officials have been instructed to ensure the benefits of state and central welfare schemes reach every household, with special focus on primitive tribal groups.
Highlighting improvements in the healthcare sector, the Chief Minister said the government has strengthened medical infrastructure across Tripura, reducing the need for patients to seek treatment outside the state. “The number of referrals has come down by about 80%. Today, almost all major medical facilities are available in Tripura itself,” he said, adding that he recently visited GB Hospital to review services and issue directions for further improvements.
