Three people, including two women, were seriously injured in a road accident on the Assam-Agartala National Highway near the Bonkumari Temple area of the Baramura Hills in Teliamura on Saturday morning.

According to reports, a Suzuki Maruti car carrying several passengers was travelling from Agartala towards Teliamura when it collided head-on with a tripper coming from the opposite direction near Bonkumari Temple.

The impact left three occupants of the Maruti injured. Among the injured were two women, reportedly employees of the Education Department posted in Kalyanpur. A 62-year-old man, identified as Nirmal Chandra Das, also sustained serious injuries in the accident.

On receiving information, personnel from the Teliamura Fire and Emergency Services rushed to the spot. They rescued the injured and shifted them to the Teliamura Sub-Divisional Hospital for treatment.

After receiving preliminary treatment, the two women, who sustained minor injuries, were discharged from the hospital. However, Nirmal Chandra Das was admitted as his condition was reportedly serious.

The attending doctor said that after the arrival of Das's family members, he may be referred to GBP Hospital in Agartala for advanced treatment, if required.

The accident caused a stir in the area during the early morning hours and disrupted traffic movement on the busy national highway for some time.
