Agniveer Recruitment Rally 2026 begins in Agartala, 337 candidates take part on Day 1

The Indian Army’s Agniveer Recruitment Rally 2026 commenced at the Dasarath Deb State Sports Complex in Badharghat, Agartala, on Tuesday, with 337 candidates participating in the opening phase of the recruitment process.

Organised under the aegis of the Spear Corps and the Army Recruiting Office (ARO), Silchar, the five-day rally will continue until October 17, providing aspiring candidates from across Tripura an opportunity to join the Indian Army.

The recruitment drive has reportedly witnessed a 92 per cent increase in candidate registrations compared with previous recruitment cycles, indicating growing interest among the state’s youth in joining the armed forces.

The rally began early in the morning with the mandatory 1.6-kilometre timed run. Candidates who qualified in the running test proceeded to the subsequent stages of the selection process, which include Physical Fitness Tests (PFT), Physical Measurement Tests (PMT), document verification and preliminary medical examinations.

The recruitment process has been divided into two operational phases to ensure systematic assessment and smooth management. The first phase, scheduled from October 13 to 15, focuses on physical fitness tests, physical measurements, document verification and initial medical screening for candidates appearing in daily batches.

The remaining two days, October 16 and 17, have been earmarked for specialised medical evaluations of the remaining candidates and the completion of administrative formalities.

Extensive arrangements have been made at the Dasarath Deb State Sports Complex through coordinated efforts between the Agartala civil administration and the Indian Army’s Spear Corps. Dedicated holding areas, emergency medical facilities, drinking water stations and registration counters have been established to facilitate candidates arriving from different parts of Tripura.

Military officials appreciated the discipline displayed by the opening batch and extended their best wishes to all candidates participating in the recruitment rally.

The drive is expected to continue over the next four days, with candidates undergoing the prescribed stages of assessment as the Army proceeds with the selection process.
