Tripura University opens IKS Corner to promote traditional knowledge, support exam aspirants

Tripura University has set up an Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) Corner at its Central Library to promote awareness of India's traditional knowledge heritage and encourage its integration into contemporary teaching and research.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Debabrata Das inaugurated the facility on October 12. The initiative was organised by the university's Central Library in collaboration with Vidya Bharati Uchha Shiksha Sansthan, Tripura.

The new facility is aimed at providing students and research scholars with access to study materials on India's traditional knowledge systems and encouraging them to explore their relevance to present-day academic practices.

Tripura University Finance Officer Debashish Pal and Librarian Dr. Champeswar Mishra attended the inauguration programme, along with faculty members, university staff, students, research scholars and other dignitaries.

University officials said the initiative seeks to sensitise the academic community to the scope of India's traditional knowledge traditions in shaping approaches to teaching, learning and research. The Corner is expected to serve as a dedicated resource centre where students and scholars can explore the country's intellectual heritage and examine its relevance to contemporary education.

The facility will also provide preparatory materials for the Bharat BoudhIKS 2.0 National Level Examination on Indian Knowledge Systems, scheduled for November 21, 2026. The examination will be conducted across colleges and universities in the country.

The availability of study resources at the Central Library is expected to help students familiarise themselves with the subject and prepare for the examination.

The collaboration between the Central Library and Vidya Bharati Uchha Shiksha Sansthan, Tripura, has facilitated the establishment of the facility.

The university expects the Corner to benefit students and researchers interested in India's traditional knowledge heritage, while supporting those preparing for the upcoming national-level examination.
