Tripura’s Transport and Tourism Minister, Sushanta Chowdhury, criticized the CPIM for allegedly exploiting tribal communities during their tenure and called out the Tipra Motha Party for failing to bring progress to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC).
Addressing a rally in support of BJP candidate Rajesh Debbarma, contesting from the Mandainagar-Pulinpur constituency in the district council elections, Chowdhury urged voters to back the BJP to ensure genuine development in the region.
“The elders here have witnessed many regional parties such as TUJS and INPT. We have also seen how the CPIM has historically suppressed and exploited indigenous communities,” he said.
Chowdhury added, “Currently, the Tipra Motha Party governs the district council, but if we want real development, only a national party like the BJP can deliver it. The BJP can ensure sustainable growth for the indigenous people.”
Highlighting the party’s influence, the Minister noted, “BJP is the largest national party and is in power at the Centre, in Delhi, Tripura, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, and several other states. Development is evident wherever the BJP governs.”
He further emphasized the need to focus on essential services, stating, “Without proper development in the district council, tribal communities cannot thrive. Social pensions, health care, and education are critical. By forming a BJP administration in the TTAADC, we will ensure these services reach everyone, without discrimination between tribal and non-tribal populations.”
The district council elections are scheduled for April 12, and Chowdhury urged the voters to cast their ballots in favor of the BJP to secure development in the tribal areas.
