The Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) youth body of Left Front has formally expressed serious concerns about the worsening law and order situation in Tripura.
On Friday, a DYFI delegation led by State Secretary Nabarun Deb submitted a deputation to the Director General of State Police, highlighting multiple issues affecting the state’s security and public safety.
Speaking to the media, Nabarun Deb stated that the state is facing a drastic decline in law and order over the past few years.
“Drug abuse is rampant across Tripura, spreading alarmingly even among school and college students. The rise in thefts, robberies, and other crimes has created a climate of fear among the general public,” he said.
Deb also pointed to the collapse of the traffic management system, noting that road accidents are claiming lives daily.
“The traffic police seem more focused on collecting fines rather than managing traffic effectively, which exacerbates the problem,” he added.
Another grave concern raised by DYFI is the infiltration of human traffickers into the state. The delegation urged authorities to strengthen border controls and take strict measures to curb human trafficking.
According to DYFI, the combination of these issues has resulted in a “jungle raj” scenario, where citizens feel insecure and deprived of their democratic rights. The delegation accused the police of selectively targeting opposition voices through arrests while failing to take action against criminals who threaten people with weapons.
The DYFI called on the government and police to take urgent and effective steps to restore law and order, ensure public safety, and protect democratic freedoms in Tripura.
