The Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) on Sunday announced a state-wide public outreach campaign, set to begin on June 22, in line with the directives of the All India Congress Committee (AICC).

The campaign aims to highlight what the party terms as key failures of the BJP-led government — including rising unemployment, deteriorating law and order, increasing crimes against women, and spiraling prices.

Addressing the media after an organisational meeting at Congress Bhavan in Agartala, TPCC President Asish Kumar Saha said that leaders from across the party's organisational structure — including district and block presidents — had gathered to chalk out the roadmap for the campaign.

"Beginning June 22, we will launch a door-to-door outreach in all blocks across the state. This initiative is part of a larger national campaign launched by the AICC. We will inform people about the current situation of the country and the state, as well as the proactive steps taken by the Congress leadership — including Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, and Mallikarjun Kharge — such as the demand for a caste-based census,” Saha said.

Saha, a former BJP MLA, also made a controversial claim that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had agreed to a ceasefire with Pakistan over the Pahalgam terror attack due to pressure from former US President Donald Trump.

He added that Congress workers would distribute leaflets during the campaign to raise public awareness on various issues. “We will highlight unemployment, inflation, breakdown of law and order, and the growing crimes against women. Through this campaign, we are reaching out to the people and seeking their support,” he said.
