Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has intervened and directed the state police to coordinate and take necessary steps after reports surfaced that a 19-year-old girl from Tripura has gone missing under mysterious circumstances in New Delhi.

The missing girl, identified as Sneha Debnath, is a student of Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College under Delhi University.

According to sources, she last communicated with her family on July 7.

Family members said Sneha had not withdrawn any money from her bank account in the past four months and left without taking any belongings—raising concerns about the nature of her disappearance.

The mystery deepened when Sneha informed her family at 5:56 am on July 7 that she was headed to Sarai Rohilla station with a friend named Pitunia. However, after her phone became unreachable for over three hours, the family contacted Pitunia, who revealed that the meeting with Sneha never took place.

Taking matters into their own hands, Sneha's family managed to trace the cab driver who had picked her up. The driver confirmed that he had dropped her near Delhi’s Signature Bridge. However, due to poor CCTV surveillance in the area, police have been unable to track her movements beyond that point.

In response to her disappearance, the Delhi Police, along with personnel from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), launched a large-scale search operation across a seven-kilometer radius. Unfortunately, despite sustained efforts, no significant leads have emerged even after a week.

Taking note of the incident, Chief Minister Manik Saha has instructed Tripura Police to stay actively engaged in the matter. The Chief Minister's Office also shared an update on X (formerly Twitter), stating:

“The report of Miss Sneha Debnath, a resident of Sabroom, who has reportedly gone missing in New Delhi, has come to the notice of the Chief Minister’s Office. Following this, necessary instructions have been promptly issued to the police to take immediate and appropriate action.”

Authorities continue to investigate, and the search operation remains ongoing.
