Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Friday directed the Disaster Management Authority to remain on high alert and ensure full preparedness in the wake of continuous heavy rainfall that has led to rising water levels in major rivers across the state.

Addressing the media, Dr. Saha said, "I have already held discussions with the Disaster Management Authority, and another meeting is scheduled for tomorrow. I have instructed officials to maintain strict vigilance, and they are taking the necessary steps accordingly."

As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Sonamura, Bishramganj, and Mohanbhog in Sepahijala district have received the highest rainfall, recording around 21 cm, while Agartala in West Tripura district reported 13.6 cm.

With the Haora river swelling due to incessant rain, water has entered several low-lying villages around Agartala city. In response, West Tripura District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar visited the affected areas for on-ground assessment and inspection.

The IMD has issued a Red Alert for North Tripura and Unakoti districts, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall. An Orange Alert has also been declared for the entire state, warning of squally winds ranging between 40–50 kmph along with ongoing rainfall.

All major rivers, including Hawra, Gomati, Khowai, and Muhuri, are reportedly flowing above their normal or warning levels.

In anticipation of further deterioration in weather conditions, the Tripura Disaster Management Authority has begun mobilizing emergency resources such as rescue boats, life jackets, and other essential equipment.

Meanwhile, several areas have reported incidents of uprooted trees and disruptions in electricity supply due to stormy winds and relentless rain.
