Ahead of the upcoming Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections, the Tripura BJP has appointed six senior leaders—including five ministers and one former Member of Parliament—as in-charges for 28 constituencies.
The TTAADC polls are scheduled to take place on April 12, with vote counting set for April 17.
In a strategic move, the ruling BJP has decided to contest the elections independently this time and has fielded candidates in all constituencies. The nominations for these seats were filed recently.
According to the party’s latest decision, the following leaders have been assigned responsibilities as cluster in-charges:
- Industries and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma has been given charge of seven constituencies across North and Dhalai districts, including Damcherra-Jampui, Machmara, Dasda-Kanchanpur, Karamcherra, Demcherra-Kachucherra, Chawmanu, and Manu-Chailengta.
- Former MP Rebati Tripura will oversee four constituencies spanning Dhalai and Khowai districts, namely Ganganagar-Gandacherra, Raima Valley, Kulai-Champahour, and Maharani-Teliamura.
- Tribal Welfare Minister Bikas Debbarma has been assigned two constituencies in Khowai district—Halahali-Asharambari and Ramchandraghat.
- Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath will supervise six constituencies, including Simna-Tamakari, Budhjungnagar-Wakhinagar, Jirania, Mandainagar-Pulinpur, Pekuarjala-Janmejoynagar, and Takarjala-Jampuijala.
- Education Minister Kishore Barman has been put in charge of five constituencies: Amtali-Golaghati, Kathalia-Mirza Rajapur, Killa-Bagma, Maharani-Chelagang, and Ampinagar.
- Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy will look after four constituencies—Natunbazar-Malbasa, Birchandranagar-Kalsi, Purba Muhuripur-Bhuratali, and Silachari-Manubankul.
The party aims to strengthen its organizational presence across all constituencies as it prepares for the upcoming council elections.
