Tripura’s Director General of Police, Anurag, on Sunday assured that comprehensive security arrangements have been implemented for the upcoming Dharmanagar by-election and the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) polls. He stated that the overall law and order situation in the state remains stable and under control.
The DGP made these remarks after visiting North Tripura district, where he conducted a review meeting with police officials from both North Tripura and Unakoti districts.
According to him, the Dharmanagar Assembly constituency by-election is scheduled for April 9, while elections for two TTAADC constituencies in North and neighboring Unakoti district will take place on April 12.
He emphasized that extensive security planning has been carried out for all phases of the electoral process. “Adequate arrangements have been made for the pre-election period, and there will be significant deployment of forces on polling days. Post-election security measures are also being planned to ensure complete peace,” he said, expressing confidence that the elections will be conducted smoothly.
Anurag further noted that the purpose of his visit was to assess preparedness on the ground in both districts. He added that any necessary adjustments would be made based on the review.
Praising the efforts of the administration, he said both civil and police authorities are working efficiently to ensure that the elections are conducted in a peaceful, free, and fair manner. He also reiterated that the current law and order situation across Tripura is satisfactory.
The meeting was attended by IGP (Law & Order) Carey Marak, North Tripura SP Avinash Rai, Unakoti SP Sudhambika R, along with Commandants of the 15th and 13th Battalions of the Tripura State Rifles.
