Teaching activities at Harishnagar Lower Basic School under the Kamalasagar Assembly constituency have been severely affected due to a prolonged shortage of teachers.
The school is currently managing all academic and administrative responsibilities with only three teachers, creating difficulties in maintaining regular classes, especially when any teacher remains absent.
According to sources, around 55 students are currently enrolled at the school. However, the limited number of teachers has disrupted regular teaching schedules. The headmaster is often occupied with administrative and official duties, leaving only two teachers to handle classroom teaching for the students.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Headmaster Pradip Kumar Saha said that the school has been facing a teacher shortage for a long time. Despite repeatedly bringing the matter to the attention of the concerned authorities, no additional teachers have been appointed so far.
The shortage has created difficulties for both teachers and students, affecting the overall learning environment of the institution. Teachers are reportedly under pressure due to increased responsibilities, while students are facing challenges in receiving proper academic attention.
Local guardians and residents have urged the education department to take immediate steps to appoint adequate teachers at the school to ensure quality education and protect the interests of students. They have also demanded swift intervention from senior officials of the education department.
It now remains to be seen what measures the education authorities take to resolve the long-standing teacher shortage at Harishnagar Lower Basic School following the issue coming to light.
