Tipra Motha Party MLA Ranjit Debbarma has called upon the Assam Rifles stationed in Tripura to swiftly implement the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) directive issued on May 19, 2025, regarding the identification and deportation of illegal migrants.
In a memorandum submitted to Brigadier Manish Rana on Wednesday, Debbarma emphasized the urgency of the matter, pointing out that only eight days remain in the 30-day window provided by the MHA to act on the directive.
“There are already 22 days gone out of the given 30-day timeframe. Only eight days are left, as the deadline ends on June 18, 2025,” Debbarma stated.
He highlighted that he had previously written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah on August 3, 2024, and again on May 8, 2025, urging strict measures against infiltration by Bangladeshi and Myanmarese Rohingya nationals. The MLA noted that the MHA’s latest directive was addressed to all Chief Secretaries, as well as the BSF and Assam Rifles, mandating urgent identification and deportation of illegal migrants across India.
“To cancel the leave of the force personnel effectively in order to increase manpower and duty hours. The jungle-cutting work needs to be completed in and around the camp jurisdictions. The creation of Assam Rifles chaukis (check posts) on the entry-exit routes of villages located in and around Assam Rifles camps in Tripura is needed. Deployment of a considerable number of Assam Rifles forces at these chaukis (check posts) is necessary to identify illegal migrants. The force may kindly be deployed to trace Indian brokers and harbourers involved in illegal infiltration,” said the MLA.
He also demanded sharp vigilance and watchfulness to be implemented upon suspected individuals in the villages adjacent to the Assam Rifles camps to secure Tripura as well as India.
“Preparation of accommodations with water, light, and sanitary system facilities for the identified illegal migrants, as well as for the security personnel, is also required. Under the above circumstances, I do hereby draw your kind attention to implement the directives of the MHA strictly within Tripura, with utmost sincerity on your part, to maintain the internal security and sovereignty of India,” he added.
