Tipra Motha Party founder Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma on Monday issued a call to action, directing his party’s MLAs, Members of District Councils (MDCs), and grassroots workers to identify and report illegal immigrants residing in Tripura.

In a Facebook post, Debbarma underscored the long-standing concern over illegal immigration in the state.

He reiterated that such individuals, despite residing in Tripura, are availing government benefits through forged documents.

Citing the positions of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the Supreme Court of India, Debbarma emphasized that illegal immigrants have no legal rights to remain in the country.

“I have been raising this issue for the past ten years. I had even approached the Supreme Court regarding the NRC. Our stance has never changed,” he wrote.

Referring to the geopolitical tensions with Bangladesh, Debbarma warned of an influx of undocumented immigrants—including both Rohingyas and Bangladeshis—into Tripura. “They are not only entering the state but also managing to obtain Voter ID cards, Ration Cards, and Aadhaar. By 2028, they might influence who becomes our MLAs, MPs, and even the Chief Minister. We cannot allow this,” he said.

The royal scion further directed all party representatives and workers to meet with District Magistrates (DMs), Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs), and Block Development Officers (BDOs) to monitor and report the issuance of identity documents to suspected illegal residents.

“The moment these illegal immigrants become voters, they hold the power to decide the future of our children. This is not the time to fight each other but to unite for a cause that affects all of us,” he said. “We must ensure that only genuine Indian citizens receive the benefits they are entitled to. Illegal immigrants must not be allowed to manipulate our democratic processes.”

Debbarma concluded with a strong appeal for unity among indigenous communities and called for decisive action against the facilitation of illegal immigration in the state.
