Tipra Motha Party founder Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma on Sunday announced that his party’s MLA will write to the Election Commission of India (ECI), urging the inclusion of a door-to-door survey as part of the Commission’s ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise.

His statement follows reports that a similar door-to-door survey in Bihar, conducted under the SIR, uncovered the presence of individuals originally from Nepal, Bangladesh, and Myanmar currently residing in the state ahead of upcoming elections.

Reacting to this, Pradyot demanded that the same exercise be carried out in the Northeastern states—especially in Tripura.

He also stressed that the officials conducting the survey must include indigenous Tiprasa individuals or officers familiar with local demographics.

“I fail to understand why Bihar is considered important while the Northeast is overlooked by the ECI. Aren’t we also children of India? It’s time for Tipra Motha MLAs to write to the EC and demand the same here. I also urge all our brothers and sisters in the Northeast to pressure your respective regional parties to take similar action,” said Pradyot.
