Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha has taken a firm stance on the recent violence reported in parts of Khowai district following the announcement of the TTAADC election results on April 17, emphasizing a strong law-and-order response and accountability for those involved.

During his visit to Khowai, the Chief Minister reviewed the situation on the ground, met families affected by the unrest, and visited relief camps where displaced residents are currently taking shelter. Authorities reported incidents of arson, assaults, and repeated attacks in some localities, leading to significant displacement of residents.

Manik Saha described the situation as a serious disruption to public order, stressing that violence would not be tolerated under any circumstances. He instructed officials to intensify security measures and confirmed that arrests of those involved have already begun, with further action expected.

He also held discussions with senior administrative and police officials, including the Chief Secretary and Director General of Police, and announced a high-level review meeting on law and order to ensure coordinated action across districts.

Referring to the unrest, the Chief Minister said that affected families—many of whom are staying in temporary shelters—would receive both financial assistance and security support from the government. He assured that efforts would be made to help them return safely to their homes.

While addressing the situation, he drew attention to the recurring nature of such incidents in certain areas over the years and linked recent tensions to political rivalries, including allegations involving opposition groups such as Tipra Motha.

Officials accompanying the Chief Minister during the visit included senior administrative and police leadership, along with local political representatives, as the state government signaled a coordinated push to restore stability and prevent further escalation.
