A powerful storm accompanied by heavy rainfall struck Tripura, causing widespread damage across several districts. According to the Tripura Emergency Operation Centre, a total of 2,346 houses were affected.
Among these, 16 were completely destroyed, 68 suffered severe damage, and 2,262 were partially damaged.
The worst-affected areas include Unakoti and North District. In North District, particularly in Dharmanagar and Kanchanpur subdivisions, 524 houses were partially damaged. In Kumarghat subdivision of Unakoti district, 65 houses were severely damaged, while 1,690 sustained partial damage.
Other districts also reported losses. In Dhalai, 2 houses were fully destroyed and 11 were partially damaged. Sepahijala recorded 1 severely damaged house and 10 partially damaged ones. In West District, 2 houses were completely destroyed, 2 severely damaged, and 2 partially affected. Khowai district reported 12 fully damaged houses and 23 partially damaged.
In response to the disaster, authorities set up 13 relief camps where 327 families, totaling 808 people, have taken shelter. The storm also damaged 17 electrical poles and uprooted numerous large trees.
Emergency response teams, including the Tripura State Rifles, State Disaster Response Force, and Apada Mitra volunteers, worked together to clear fallen trees and restore normalcy in the affected areas.
