In a significant move to promote women-led enterprises, the Government of Tripura has launched the Tripura Women Entrepreneurship Policy 2025–2030.

The policy was formally unveiled by Industries and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma during a state-level programme held at Pragna Bhavan in Agartala on Thursday.

Addressing the gathering, Minister Chakma described the initiative as a landmark step in the state’s development journey. She emphasized that the policy aims to empower aspiring women entrepreneurs by creating a supportive ecosystem that nurtures innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable business growth.

“The launch of the Women Entrepreneurship Policy reflects a progressive vision to expand opportunities, strengthen support systems, and build an enabling environment where women can transform their ideas into successful enterprises,” Chakma said.

She further noted that the policy is expected to usher in a new phase of women-led development in Tripura. “The Women Entrepreneurship Policy 2025–2030 will pave the way for inclusive economic growth, combining women’s empowerment with economic progress and reinforcing the state’s vision of equitable development,” she added.

The policy seeks to address several challenges commonly faced by women entrepreneurs, such as limited access to finance, markets, modern technology, and institutional support. By tackling these barriers, the initiative aims to encourage women to transition from informal livelihood activities to structured and sustainable enterprises, thereby strengthening the state’s economic fabric.

The programme also featured discussions on the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme, highlighting the government’s continued efforts to promote micro and small-scale industries across the state.

Among those present at the event were Industries and Commerce Secretary Kiran Gitte, Chairman of the Tripura Tea Development Corporation Samir Ghosh, along with senior officials from the department.

The launch of this policy marks an important step toward fostering entrepreneurship among women in Tripura and creating a more inclusive and resilient economic landscape for the future.
