A residential house was reduced to ashes after an LPG cylinder reportedly exploded at Dhaliarkandi village under Gournagar block in Kailashahar on Thursday.

The house, owned by Bidhan Chowdhury, caught fire following the sudden explosion. Within moments, the flames spread rapidly across the entire structure, leaving residents and neighbours in a state of panic.

On receiving the alert, firefighters rushed to the spot with a large fire tender and began operations to contain the blaze. Despite their efforts, the intensity of the fire made it impossible to rescue most of the belongings inside the house.

Household furniture, electronic appliances, clothing and other essential items were completely destroyed in the incident. The family is believed to have suffered significant financial losses, with the preliminary damage estimated to be over Rs 1 lakh.

The incident has caused concern among local residents, while the exact circumstances leading to the cylinder blast are yet to be established.
