A 3.8-magnitude earthquake jolted Tripura’s Dhalai district shortly after midnight on Sunday, triggering brief panic among residents in several areas.
According to data released by the National Centre for Seismology (NCS), the earthquake occurred at 12:57:38 am and was centred in Dhalai district. The depth of the earthquake was recorded at around 30 kilometres below the surface.
Residents in different parts of Dhalai reported feeling the tremors, although the shaking lasted only briefly.
There have been no reports of casualties or injuries so far. Officials have also not received any information regarding damage to houses, buildings or other infrastructure following the earthquake.
The National Centre for Seismology shared details of the tremor through its official social media handle following the incident.
Authorities are continuing to monitor the situation, while no major damage has been reported from any part of Dhalai district so far.
