The Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT), a key ally in the BJP-led coalition government in the state, has announced its intent to contest the 2026 Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections with renewed strength and determination, aiming for a better outcome than its 2021 performance.
Cooperation Minister and senior IPFT leader Shukla Charan Noatia made the announcement today while chairing the party’s Central Executive Meeting, held in preparation for IPFT’s Foundation Day celebrations on August 23, which also marks their long-standing demand for ‘Tipraland’—a separate state for indigenous communities under the Sixth Schedule.
Reflecting on the 2021 TTAADC election, Noatia said the party was organizationally weak at the time due to “various reasons and conspiracies,” which impacted their performance. However, he asserted that the party has significantly revived its strength since then.
“The IPFT has been revitalized across the state. Many leaders and workers who had left the party earlier are now returning. We are witnessing daily joining programs, which reflect the growing trust in our leadership,” he said.
Noatia emphasized that the party is preparing extensively for the upcoming elections and will finalize its strategy in the coming months. “We are working tirelessly to further strengthen the organization. IPFT will have a significant role to play in the 2026 TTAADC polls.”
Reiterating the party’s core ideological stance, he added, “Our demand for a separate state for the TTAADC region remains unchanged and will continue to be a central part of our political movement.”
