Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha today informed that the number of infiltrations has decreased and he has urged the central leadership to repair damaged barbed wire India-Bangladesh fencing and to erect the same in the rest of the unfenced areas.

Tripura shares 856 km long international border with Bangladesh.

Speaking with media, Dr. Saha, who is also the Home Minister of the state, said that the state government has strict vigil on the bordering areas.

“I have already brought the matter before the Central Government and they know it. We are also detaining illegal infiltrators and whatever process is there to deport them, we are doing it as per law. In the second plenary session also I have raised the matter. Not in every part, but there are some fencing issues, while in some places there is no fencing. I have raised this matter before the central leadership. They said they will look into the matter,” he said.

About the infiltration, Dr. Saha said that he has spoken with the Border Security Forces and other security agencies.

“They are doing whatever necessary for deportation. As we are keeping close vigil, they are being detained and unable to enter the state. The infiltration has decreased,” he added.
