Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha today said that in this year’s state budget, a scheme has been introduced to provide social pensions to the unmarried and dependent daughters and sons of CAPF personnel who are permanent residents of Tripura and above 18 years of age. An amount of Rs 2.40 crore has been allocated for this scheme in the budget.
Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha made this statement during the 29th meeting of the State Sainik Board held at the Secretariat today.
During the discussion in the meeting, the Chief Minister asked the Director of the Sainik Welfare Department to take the initiative to provide complete information about the list of enterprising ex-servicemen who are interested in working in various sectors such as micro, small and medium industries, start-ups, animal husbandry, fisheries, etc., in the state.
The Chief Minister mentioned that a specific policy will be formulated in this regard.
He also said that initiatives will be taken to arrange necessary coaching for the preparation of ex-servicemen and their dependents for IT, TCS, and TPSC exams, and he emphasized the need for renovation of the state's Sainik Rest House.
During the discussion, the Director of the Department of Soldiers’ Welfare, Retired Captain (IN) Paramjit Singh, discussed in detail the programs undertaken for the welfare of deceased and ex-servicemen.
He elaborated on the steps taken in view of the decisions made in the last meeting of the State Soldiers’ Board.
The meeting was attended by MLA Swapna Das Pal, Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, Director General of State Police Anurag, Secretary of the Department of Industries and Commerce Kiran Gitte, Secretary of the Department of Finance Apurba Roy, Secretary of the Department of General Administration (Political) T.K. Debnath, and other ex-servicemen who participated in the discussion.
