A significant number of minority women in Tripura have come forward in support of the One Nation, One Election initiative, BJP Mahila Morcha Tripura President Mimi Majumder said on Friday.

Speaking to reporters after a discussion session held in the state, Majumder expressed her delight at the overwhelming response from participants.
“Today, we organized a discussion on One Nation, One Election with a special focus on women’s participation. A good number of minority women attended, and the support we witnessed was truly heartening,” she said.

Majumder pointed out that India had previously implemented the One Nation, One Election model, which was discontinued over time.
“The idea was revived under the leadership of former President Ramnath Kovind. During today’s session, most of the attendees supported the proposal, highlighting its potential to save time, manpower, money, and other crucial resources,” she added.

She emphasized that frequent elections often hamper governance.
“When a government is elected for five years, a significant portion of that term gets consumed by election preparations. That leaves little time for effective governance and developmental work.”

Highlighting the enthusiastic participation of minority women, Majumder said, “Today’s gathering was truly inspiring. These women have expressed their resolve to wipe out the remnants of communist influence. We have already seen this shift in Uttar Pradesh, where minority women voted for the BJP and are now witnessing the fruits of development.”

Majumder reiterated the BJP's commitment to ensuring that the benefits of both state and central government schemes reach every citizen, particularly the marginalized.
“Our priority remains addressing people’s real issues and delivering inclusive development,” she said.
