Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumdar has assured that the newly constructed 50-bed civil hospital near Jackson Gate in Agartala will be opened to the public soon, as construction work has reached its final stage.
After inspecting the facility, the Mayor told reporters that the corporation is working to ensure the hospital becomes operational at the earliest for public benefit.
“The Agartala Municipal Corporation is aiming to open this hospital for the public very soon,” he said.
The upcoming modern healthcare facility is expected to ease the growing patient burden on GBP Hospital and IGM Hospital in the city.
The hospital has been designed as a 50-bed unit equipped with multiple specialist outpatient departments (OPD), a minor operation theatre for small procedures, and extended service hours from 8 AM to 8 PM.
The infrastructure also includes modern amenities such as elevators and patient-friendly facilities. The project is being developed following the model of municipal-run hospitals successfully operating in cities like Mumbai. The Agartala Municipal Corporation will directly manage the hospital.
Officials said the project is part of a broader initiative by the state government to strengthen urban healthcare services in Agartala.
During the inspection, local corporator Ratna Dutta, AMC Additional Commissioner Mihir Ghosh, and senior hospital officials were also present. They briefed the Mayor on the final preparations for launching the facility.
