In a somber outpouring of grief and solidarity, multiple candlelight processions and condolence events were organized across Tripura on Wednesday to pay tribute to the victims of the brutal terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.
The heinous assault, which took place on Tuesday, claimed the lives of 28 tourists, including two foreigners, and left many others injured.
The Tripura Pradesh Congress held a candlelight march in front of the Pradesh Congress Bhavan in Agartala to honor the martyrs.
Leaders of the party strongly condemned the attack, calling it a direct assault on India’s sovereignty.
“This is a national tragedy. Terrorist has no religion, and the entire nation must unite to fight it,” said Tripura Pradesh youth Congress president Neel Kamal Saha.
They also urged the central government to ensure a thorough investigation and swift justice for the victims.
The Communist Party of India (Marxist) also organized similar events in Agartala who denounced the terror attack and called for national unity against violence and extremism.
The CPIM's Sabroom divisional committee in South District held a silent procession through the town's main roads, with participants carrying posters that read “Stand against terrorism” and “Demand justice for the killing of innocent lives.”
In Khowai District, the DYFI and TYF, the youth wing of Left Front jointly organized a silent march, combining their tribute to the victims with broader calls for action on unemployment, corruption, anti-drug measures
Meanwhile, the School of Science in Agartala also held a tribute event. Principal Abhijit Bhattacharjee led staff and students in observing a moment of silence and praying for the eternal peace of the deceased souls.
He too condemned the attack, offering his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.
