In a string of coordinated operations, the Border Security Force (BSF) has apprehended three Bangladeshi nationals and one Indian drug peddler while seizing a substantial haul of contraband, including 48 kilograms of cannabis and 275 mobile phones valued at approximately ₹65 lakh.

On June 12, BSF personnel deployed at the Border Outpost (BOP) in Boxanagar, Sepahijala district, intercepted an Indian national in possession of 48 kg of ganja.

The suspect was taken into custody and is currently under interrogation.

In a separate joint operation with the Government Railway Police (GRP) in Agartala and Ambassa, BSF troops apprehended three Bangladeshi nationals at Agartala and Ambassa railway stations. The detainees, identified as residents of Khulna and Netrakona districts in Bangladesh, are suspected to have entered Indian territory illegally. Investigations are underway to determine the motive and route of their infiltration.

Acting on specific intelligence inputs, another team of BSF troops from BOP Koylatilla in Sepahijala district launched an operation in the hinterland and intercepted a Mahindra Bolero pick-up vehicle. A thorough search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 275 mobile handsets of assorted brands, collectively valued at around ₹65 lakh.

A BSF spokesperson stated that the force has stepped up vigilance along the international border and adjacent areas to thwart cross-border infiltration, exfiltration, and smuggling operations.

"The BSF is fully committed to safeguarding the nation's borders and preventing all forms of trans-border crimes," the spokesperson said.
