Concern has spread among parents and residents of South Yubarajnagar under Dharmanagar police station following allegations that expired medicines intended for children were distributed at an Anganwadi centre in Ward No. 1.

According to the children's parents, guardians were called to the Anganwadi centre on September 5, where medicines meant for the children were handed over. However, after checking the expiry dates printed on the medicine bottles, some parents allegedly found that the medicines had already crossed their expiry dates.

The distribution reportedly took place in the presence of MPW Manish Nath of the Mangal Khali Sub-Centre, ASHA worker Kairun Nessa and Anganwadi worker Mampi Debnath.

The alleged discovery caused concern among the parents, with one guardian reportedly posting a warning in the centre's official WhatsApp group, urging other parents not to administer the medicines to their children.

Parents have further alleged that no immediate clarification or response was provided by the concerned health and Anganwadi personnel after the issue was brought to their attention.

The incident has raised questions regarding the checking, storage and distribution of medicines meant for children, as well as the supervision mechanisms of the concerned departments.

Local residents and parents have demanded a thorough investigation to establish how expired medicines allegedly reached the children and have sought appropriate action against anyone found responsible.
