Tripura to conduct civil defence mock drill tomorrow, holds meeting with DMs

The Tripura government is set to conduct a state-wide Civil Defence Mock Drill on May 7 at 4 PM, in line with a nationwide initiative directed by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

In preparation for the exercise, the state administration convened a meeting on Tuesday with all eight District Magistrates to finalise arrangements.

The mock drill aims to assess civil defence preparedness, including the functionality of air raid warning systems, the operational readiness of Hotline and Radio Communication Links with the Indian Air Force, and the effectiveness of control rooms at various levels.

An official, on condition of anonymity, confirmed the meeting and shared that such drills will also be conducted periodically to ensure consistent preparedness.

"The drill will be held across the state tomorrow from 4 PM. We’ve already held a meeting with all the DMs to ensure smooth execution. Such exercises will continue periodically,” the official said.

The Home Ministry has directed all States and Union Territories to carry out similar mock drills in their designated Civil Defence Districts — 244 across the country — extending the exercise down to the village level.
