Tripura content creator arrested for objectionable content; Police seek 5-day remand

West Agartala Police have detained Alamin Hossein, a social media content creator, for allegedly uploading offensive material on his YouTube and Facebook channels under the name Mr. Honco.

Officer-in-Charge of West Agartala Police Station, Paritosh Das, confirmed the arrest on Saturday.

He said the police registered a case against Hossein following complaints filed by five individuals.

"Recently, we received complaints about a YouTube and Facebook channel sharing objectionable content. Upon investigation, we detained the creator, Alamin Hossein. His videos included anti-national remarks and derogatory comments about women," Das said.

Hossein, a resident of Sepahijala district, ran his content through a Facebook account named Mr. Hunco. Authorities have moved to shut down the account and have alerted Facebook’s parent company, Meta, about the issue.

Police plan to produce Hossein in court, seeking a five-day remand to continue their investigation.

“We are taking firm action against individuals who misuse digital platforms to circulate offensive content,” Das added.
