The Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) has launched a scathing attack on the BJP led Tripura government over rising unemployment, corruption, and rampant drug abuse.
Addressing a press conference at Chatra Yuva Bhavan on Friday, DYFI State Secretary Nabarun Deb alleged that the BJP-led government has failed to fulfill its promises and has allowed lawlessness to flourish across Tripura.
Deb said that DYFI, along with Tribal Youth Federation (TYF), has been conducting statewide programs in phases to highlight pressing issues, including joblessness and lack of action against drug trafficking.
In the first phase, local processions and a mass letter campaign to the Chief Minister were held. The second phase witnessed massive rallies in all subdivisions.
The third phase of the agitation is scheduled between April and May, during which the organizations plan to gherao District Magistrate offices across all eight districts. In addition, small meetings will be organized in local markets to raise awareness.
Accusing the BJP of misleading the people before coming to power in 2018, Deb said, “They claimed there were 7 lakh unemployed youth and lakhs of vacant government posts. But in 2018, the government admitted to only 17,000 vacancies, and by March 2025, that figure rose to nearly 50,000 — with 10,000 posts lying vacant in the education department alone.”
DYFI State President Palash Bhowmik and other senior leaders were also present at the press conference.
