E-Rickshaws, Rickshaws barred on key Agartala roads during peak hours

To ease traffic congestion and ensure public safety, the West Tripura district administration has imposed restrictions on the movement of slow-moving vehicles such as e-rickshaws and manual rickshaws on key roads in Agartala during peak hours.

As per a notification issued by District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar, based on a proposal from the Superintendent of Police (Traffic), the movement of e-rickshaws and rickshaws will be prohibited from 8:30 AM to 11:00 AM and 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM.

The restricted stretches include IGM to RMS Chowmuhani-B.K. Chowmuhani to Colonel Chowmuhani North Gate to Mutriprangan (approx. 2.5 km) and IGM to TRTC Crossing via B.K. Chowmuhani (approx. 660 meters).

These routes have been identified as high-congestion zones where slow-moving vehicles significantly disrupt traffic flow during busy hours.

The administration believes the measure will help streamline vehicular movement and bring much-needed relief to commuters navigating the city’s busiest roads.
