Transport Minister stresses timely completion of NH-8 expansion work

Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury today emphasized the importance of completing the Assam-Agartala National Highway (NH-8) expansion project within the stipulated timeframe, citing its critical role in ensuring the overall development of the state, modernization of road connectivity, and public convenience.

The Minister was speaking at a special review meeting held at the conference hall of the Jirania Sub-division Magistrate’s office, where he underscored the need for identifying and resolving all bottlenecks on a priority basis, especially in the Champaknagar to Khayerpur stretch of the highway.

“The work of expanding NH-8 must progress swiftly. All agencies involved must coordinate closely with the state administration to overcome hurdles and ensure timely delivery,” said Chowdhury.

He also urged all stakeholders, including government officials, contractors, and local representatives, to extend their full cooperation to accelerate the pace of the project.

The meeting was attended by Jirania Panchayat Samiti Chairman Pritam Debnath, West Tripura Additional District Magistrate Sajal Biswas, Jirania Subdivision Magistrate Shantiranjan Chakma, Additional Subdivisional Magistrate Animesh Dhar, DC Janmejoy Chakma, social worker Ranjit Roy Chowdhury, Partha Saha, along with officials from various government departments, representatives of the National Highway Construction Agency, and local businessmen.

The NH-8 project is seen as a vital infrastructure initiative for improving inter-state connectivity and boosting economic activities in Tripura.
