Tripura CM slams Left rule, assures justice for murdered Journalists

Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha launched a scathing attack on the previous Left government, accusing it of failing to ensure law and order in the state.

Addressing a massive public gathering at Swami Vivekananda Maidan, the Chief Minister stated that two journalists were murdered during the previous regime and assured that the culprits would face justice through a fair investigation.

“Two journalists were killed during the CPI(M) rule, and the CBI is investigating the matter. I am hopeful that the criminals will soon be behind bars”, he said.

Dr. Saha emphasized that under the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government, Tripura has been freed from extremism and is witnessing development across all sectors.

He asserted that 16,451 youth have secured jobs in various state government departments, and an additional 8,000 job opportunities are in the pipeline.

The Chief Minister also highlighted Tripura's remarkable economic progress, stating that the state has achieved the highest percentage rank in development across India.

He pointed out that the purchasing power of the people has increased significantly, and law and order have improved. He further announced that around Rs 7,000 crore has been allocated for infrastructural development in the state budget.

Providing statistical evidence of economic growth, Dr. Saha revealed that in the financial year 2017-18, Tripura’s per capita income stood at Rs 1,444, which has now surged to Rs 1,77,423. He underscored that the state government is prioritizing development, making Tripura a model for economic growth in terms of GDP.

The Chief Minister reminded the public that in 2018, Tripura was liberated from 35 years of Left rule, which he described as an era of "misrule" marked by violence, terrorism, and extremism. He credited the BJP government for steering the state onto a path of peace and progress, ensuring overall development and prosperity.
