Tripura CM directs timely completion of road, cover drain projects in Agartala

In a proactive move to ensure seamless urban infrastructure, Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha today directed officials to complete the construction of roads and covered drains in Agartala within the stipulated timeline.

Dr. Saha undertook a comprehensive inspection of development works across Wards 16, 20, and 32 under the Agartala Municipal Council (AMC), beginning his visit from the Town Hall premises.

His itinerary included key areas such as Santipara, Kshetramohan School, Netaji Chowmuhani, Netaji School, Forest Office, Howrah Riverfront Project, Singhapara, RMS Chowmuhani, Badurtoli, and Ramnagar 1 to 4.

During the visit, the Chief Minister reviewed ongoing projects, assessed progress, and took note of local concerns.

Addressing the media, Dr. Saha mentioned that although significant improvements have been made in the 8-Town Baradowali Assembly Constituency, some complaints regarding drainage still persist in select areas. “These issues have been identified and mostly resolved,” he said.

He expressed concern over instances of encroachment and assured immediate action. “I have instructed officials to ensure proper construction of covered drains wherever needed. In Shantipara, I specifically asked them to take care of a neglected pond,” he stated.

Dr. Saha emphasized that the core objective is to enhance the drainage system and make public spaces encroachment-free. “Development is a continuous process. Our visits aren’t limited to election periods—we are committed to regular monitoring,” he remarked, adding that many residents expressed satisfaction with the ongoing works.

He also visited Kshetramohan School to inspect infrastructure development there.

Accompanying the Chief Minister were Health Secretary Kiran Gitte, West District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar, Urban Development Secretary Abhishek Singh, CEO of Agartala Smart City Ltd. Shailesh Kumar Yadav, among other senior officials.
