In a moment of pride for Tripura, Sagar Datta Majumdar has secured an impressive 317th rank in the prestigious Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination 2024, the results of which were declared today.
A resident of Krishnanagar Nutan Palli in Agartala, Sagar’s academic journey reflects a legacy of excellence and perseverance.
He completed his secondary education at Ramakrishna Mission School in 2018, having earlier passed out from the same institution in 2016 with a stellar 95 percent in his Higher Secondary exams. Pursuing his passion for science, he graduated with Honours in Physics from Ramjas College, Delhi University in 2019.
Sagar is the son of Tushar Datta Majumdar and Gauri Datta Majumdar, a former ONGC employee.
His determination and dedication have been unwavering—this was his eighth attempt at the UPSC examination since he began preparations in Delhi in 2020. And this time, his persistence paid off.
Notably, before this national triumph, Sagar had already demonstrated his mettle at the state level—topping the Tripura Public Service Commission Examination 2024 and currently serving in the Tripura Civil Service.
His achievement adds to the legacy of his family. His grandfather, the late Amulya Ranjan Datta Majumdar, was a respected Post Master in Tripura, and Sagar’s success marks a continuation of their commitment to public service.
