Tripura Royal scion Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma on Sunday said that if local boys are given support, they will defend the land and kick out illegal Bangladeshis from entering India.
Pradyot's statement came a day after four Bangladeshi nationals were arrested at Agartala Railway Station.
Tripura shares an 856 km long porous border with Bangladesh.
He said that illegal Bangladeshis are entering every day, and for every five people apprehended, a thousand get away because of the terrain and porous border.
"Tripura is going through demographic change once again! Both Assam and Tripura, and parts of Meghalaya, have become transit points for illegal migration to the Northeast and the rest of India. The indigenous tribes, who are asking for land rights here, are doing so because we know sooner or later we will be overrun by illegal migration," said Pradyot.
He sought justice and attention from the rest of India.
"Can we expect justice and attention from the rest of India? Our boys know the area, and if given the support, will defend our land and kick out illegal Bangladeshis from entering our country," he added.
