Customers from various districts of Tripura staged a protest at the Tripura Urban Development Authority (TUDA) office today over the prolonged delay in receiving their flats at the Lighthouse residential complex, located at Gulchakkar on the Agartala border.
Light House Project Agartala is one of the six such projects under Global Housing Technology challenge- India (GHTC-India) initiative taken by Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, Government of India.
The project was inaugurated by Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi on 1 January, 2021.
There will be seven numbers of Blocks in Agartala project which will contain a total of 1000 numbers flats.
The protesters alleged that they were promised possession of their flats in 2022, but the commitment remains unfulfilled to date.
Many of them stated that they had made payments in two or three installments at the TUDA office, yet no concrete action has been taken by the authorities.
Expressing their frustration, the customers demanded either a refund of the money they had paid to the government for the Lighthouse flats or an immediate arrangement to hand over their houses.
In pursuit of a resolution, they met with the state joint secretary and urged the Chief Minister to intervene and take effective steps to address the issue.
The protestors voiced their disappointment and anger over the prolonged inaction. They remain hopeful that the Chief Minister will step in and ensure a swift resolution to their problem.
