Following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, Tripura Police have registered eight FIRs and arrested or detained eight individuals for posting derogatory and adverse comments on social media regarding the incident.

A senior Tripura Police official informed that between April 24 and April 26, multiple cases were filed across the state, with those accused including a government employee and two retired teachers.

"In Dharmanagar Police Station under North District, three FIRs were registered. Among them, a retired teacher was arrested and later released on bail, while two others were summoned for questioning," the official said. Additionally, in Kadamtala Police Station under the same district, an FIR was registered against an individual named Mansur Ali.

Meanwhile, two persons — Jaharlal Debnath and Kuldip Mandal — were arrested by Ambassa Police under Dhalai District. Both are currently in judicial custody until April 30. In Sonamura Police Station under Sepahijala District, Jahrul Islam was arrested and subsequently released on bail. In Sabroom Police Station under South District, Pranab Das was booked for similar offenses.

The senior police officer also mentioned that protests have erupted across Tripura, with citizens demanding strict action against those responsible for the terror attack.

Further, he said that efforts are ongoing to identify any Pakistani nationals residing in the state.
"Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha recently held a meeting with District SPs and District Magistrates, directing officials to verify the presence of Pakistani nationals. However, no such individuals have been found so far," the official added.

Security measures along Tripura's international border with Bangladesh have also been intensified to prevent any infiltration or untoward incident.
