A 20-year-old man has been remanded to judicial custody until June 20 for allegedly raping a minor girl inside a school premises in West Tripura district, according to police.

The West Tripura District Court ordered the remand after the accused was produced before it. Police said the mother of the victim filed a complaint at Srinagar Police Station on June 7, around 8 pm, stating that her daughter had been raped on June 6.

 “The complaint alleges that the youth raped the girl on the verandah of Anandanagar Higher Secondary School. A case was registered immediately. We visited the spot, conducted an investigation, and arrested the accused. He was produced in court, which remanded him to judicial custody till June 20,” a police official said.

Police further said that the accused person, identified as Rahul Saha (20), has confessed that the incident was true.

“The girl and boy were in a love relationship, and the boy showed criminal intimidation towards the girl, and then the incident happened. The boy said the school was closed and they somehow managed to enter the school by jumping over the school wall,” he added.
