Tripura is on the verge of a historic milestone as it is set to become the third state in the country to achieve full literacy, following Mizoram and Goa.
An official from the state Education Department confirmed the development stating that Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha will officially announce the achievement at a special programme scheduled to be held at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhawan on Monday.
According to the official, Tripura was initially poised to secure the second position in the national literacy ranking. However, due to the completion of certain key initiatives in Goa ahead of schedule, the coastal state managed to take the spot.
“This is a proud moment for Tripura. Despite a slight delay, achieving full literacy is a significant feat for the state,” the official added.
Tripura has consistently recorded high literacy rates in recent years, thanks to sustained efforts in adult education, school enrolment drives, and grassroots awareness campaigns across urban and rural areas.
The formal declaration is expected to highlight the government’s roadmap and future vision to maintain and improve the literacy ecosystem in the state.
