Tripura Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Friday reviewed the progress of several key infrastructure projects aimed at overhauling the state's transport system.
Chairing a review meeting with senior officials from the Transport Department, Public Works Department (PWD), Rural Development Department, CPWD, and various construction agencies, the Minister stressed the need for timely completion of works being implemented under the Central Government’s Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment Scheme 2024–25.
“The state government has launched a series of initiatives to enhance connectivity and ease public transportation,” Chowdhury said.
“Construction of modern motor stands and other transport infrastructure is actively underway in multiple locations, including Melaghar, Jirania, Shantirbazar, Julaibari, and Manughat.”
He also highlighted several major projects currently in progress, including the Rajarbagh Bus Port, Sabroom Interstate Bus Terminus, Transport Commissionerate Office in Agartala, and District Transport Offices in Kailashahar, Bishramganj, Teliamura, and Shantirbazar.
The Minister directed all concerned departments and executing agencies to speed up construction activities and ensure timely submission of Utilization Certificates.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment, Chowdhury said, “We are focused on providing modern, efficient transport facilities to the people of Tripura, with strict emphasis on transparency and accountability in every stage of project implementation.”
