A massive fire broke out early Sunday morning, completely gutting a shop on the Kanchanpur-Jampui road and causing an estimated loss of Rs 20 lakh.

The incident occurred around 7 AM, leaving the local businessman and shop owner, Sajal Ghosh, devastated as all goods and belongings were reduced to ashes. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

Prompt action by the Kanchanpur Fire Brigade, which reached the spot in time, helped bring the blaze under control and prevented it from spreading to nearby establishments. However, by the time the flames were doused, Ghosh’s shop had already been completely destroyed.

Local administration and police have launched an investigation into the incident. Authorities praised the fire brigade’s swift response, stating that their timely intervention averted a larger disaster in the area.
