Press Club bids farewell to Veteran Journalist Pradip Dutta Bhaumik

The Agartala Press Club today turned into a solemn site of mourning as journalists, writers, political leaders, and admirers gathered to pay their final respects to veteran journalist and Dainik Sombad News Editor, Pradip Dutta Bhaumik, who passed away at AIIMS Hospital in New Delhi yesterday.

His mortal remains arrived in Agartala by flight on Monday afternoon. The body was first taken to his residence in Indranagar via the Dainik Sambad office in Notun Nagar. 

Around 5:15 pm, the hearse reached the Agartala Press Club where an emotionally charged atmosphere prevailed. Journalists, photojournalists, editors, literary figures, educationists, administration officials, and media professionals gathered in large numbers to bid farewell with garlands and tears.

The Agartala Press Club’s committee, along with numerous media colleagues, paid their last respects before the body was taken to the old Dainik Sambad building and finally to the Battala crematorium, where the last rites were performed in the presence of a sea of mourners.

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath visited the late journalist’s Indranagar residence to offer condolences to the bereaved family. Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury also paid floral tribute at the Agartala Press Club, honouring Bhaumik’s immense contribution to the field of journalism in Tripura.
